Hello

My name is Kent Nielson.

This time last year I lost my big brother Scott. He was always there for me. From introducing me to the Crue or teaching me how to use a nail gun. My first real job was framing houses with him, and I haven't looked back. I fell in love with carpentry, and began a lifelong quest to create beauty.

Me and Scotty. He is the handsome one on the left :)

My family lost Scotty last year, the day after Valentines day. Through a series of events we ended up building his casket. Partly the burden of cost, and partly because that's what he would have wanted.  His beloved Home Depot even supplied the material and let us build it in the back of his favorite store. Two things happened. It helped everyone through the grieving process. It eased the heartache as we all reminisced about Scotty, incorporating little bits of his life into the design and construction of his casket. From the riveted steel reinforced corners, the custom Big Daddy engraving, (his three adorable little children called him Big Daddy), to the rebar handles that carried him to his final resting place. The second thing that happened is I found what I was searching for my entire life. The casket was rushed, touched by many helping hands, and in less than ideal conditions. But it was the most beautiful thing I have ever taken part in building. It was by far the proudest and most precious moment of my entire life. I had finally found the ultimate woodworking creation.  It was the only thing that I had found where the quality of the finished product was worthy of my respect and love for the trade, and my desire for perfection.

With your input, I want to have the privilege of building a personalized casket for your loved ones.  I want to give you the chance to feel the same peace and joy my family felt. I want to help ease the pain surrounding losing your loved one, and turn it into a moment of celebration. It is a special way to recall your fondest memories and to have them immortalized into every detail of their casket.
